Freshmen looking for first year playing time

Marshall University freshman linebacker Quanthony Fletcher is trying to get playing time on the field this season, and with the help he is receiving from his coaches, things are looking up. Coaches say Fletcher is catching on quickly, but needs to study his playbook more. Defensive Coordinator, Rick Minter, is working with Fletcher daily to help with learning the ropes. Fletcher said he hopes to get playing time this season, but the coaches have told him once he gets the plays down it will be an easier decision for them to make.

Measuring in at 6-foot-2, Press Taylor is considered to be one of the smaller quarterbacks at preseason camp, but coaches say he is improving. Head Coach Mark Snyder said Taylor had a good week on the field, but it's difficult to settle down when he is behind the starting quarterback.

  1. It's good to see we have some freshman that could possible make an impact this year because this football team needs a boost.
