Mayor Kim Wolfe proposed a budget cut for the fiscal year 2011 in his State of the City.
Wolfe said last year’s budget of $44 million will be reduced to approximately $40 million.
If the revenue continues to look the same as they have this year, a 10 percent reduction will be forced onto the budget as well, Wolfe said.
“Unfortunately, as the economic challenges that were broadcast on a national level hit home, we have been forced to reduce that budget for this current fiscal year to approximately $40 million,” Wolfe said. “Should the revenues continue to look as they have this current year, we may be forced to see an approximate 10 percent reduction in the revenues that are proposed this year, approximately $5 million.”
Because of this cut across the board, the contributions of the city will see a cut as well. In the 2009 fiscal year, contributions had a budget of about $1.4 million. In the fiscal year for 2010, its budget is estimated to be $1.3 million through July 30. The proposed budget for the 2011 fiscal year for contributions is about $1.2 million. The numbers continue to decrease.
