This is the present and future of journalism and I am headed there...

The article posted on the editteach Web site, "Online journalist looks a lot like a copy editor," explains the similarities and differences between journalists and online journalists. Personally, I have an aversion to online news. I dislike that people around me are telling me "online is the future of journalism," because if that is so, then I don't want to head there. I enjoy picking up an actual newspaper or a magazine and reading the news. Of course, I understand how in this day and age we are a more electronic generation; however, that doesn't mean I have to like everything about it.

As far as the article goes, I agree that online journalists are much like a copy editor. They should be. They are a journalist just the same as I am, so why shouldn't they have the same skills as every other journalist? I understand how it would be easy for copy editors to transfer over into online journalism, and it is good, despite my aversion to technology sometimes, that we as journalists have a bright future. I don't think that going "all online" for all journalism is necessary, but I realize that things change. We might be in different boats, but we are on the same sea.
